Fulcrum Group has promoted Tom Overfield to Managing Director of the Operating Divisions as the business continues to strengthen collaboration across its divisions and deliver a more integrated service offering to customers across the UK’s infrastructure and utility sectors.
Tom, who joined the Group in 2020, will now oversee the strategic direction and operational alignment of the wider business, supporting continued growth across its multi-utility, high voltage and infrastructure operations.
A Chartered health and safety professional with extensive experience in the utility and energy sector, Tom joined Fulcrum as Area Contracts Manager for the South West before progressing to Head of Operations and then Operations Director, taking on wider national operational leadership responsibilities.
In his new role, Tom will focus on further aligning the Group’s capabilities and directly employed workforce to provide customers with a turnkey, end-to-end service across infrastructure and utility projects.
The appointment forms part of Fulcrum Group’s wider strategy to strengthen collaboration between its businesses, enhance customer experience and support long-term sustainable growth across key sectors including industrial and commercial developments, energy infrastructure, battery storage, renewables, data centres and residential projects.
This role provides an opportunity to further align the strengths and expertise that already exist across the Group to create an even more joined-up experience for our customers.
Around 90 per cent of our operational delivery workforce is employed directly by the Group, which is a major strength and a real differentiator within the sector. It gives us greater control, consistency and accountability across project delivery while allowing us to provide customers with a true end-to-end service.
Tom began his career in the utilities sector at 16 as an apprentice with Morrison Utility Services before progressing into operational and leadership roles across the industry. During his career, he has worked on major infrastructure projects including Hinkley Point nuclear power station and the Severn Wye cable tunnel project.
Having started my own career as an apprentice at 16, I understand first-hand the importance of investing in people, developing future talent and creating long-term career pathways within the industry. That will remain an important part of our long-term growth strategy as the business continues to evolve.
Tom’s appointment reflects both his leadership credentials and the impact he has already made across the Group.
He brings extensive operational and sector experience alongside a genuine passion for delivering quality projects, strong customer relationships and continuous improvement across the business.
At Fulcrum Group, we are committed to supporting professional development, creating opportunities for progression and recognising talented people who can help drive the business forward. Tom’s own career journey is a strong example of that approach in action, and he is exceptionally well placed to help lead the next phase of the Group’s growth.
